The clouds rolled in; it was violent and dark in the distance. “Emit said the tavern was this way, right? Storms a comin’,” she says, her light skin and brown hair that was covered by her helmet. He looks both ways as the thunder roars towards them. “Umm, well, in all fairness, I did recommend we fast travel there, I do still have the sigil, you know.” He is confused about which road to take. “It’s not a fast travel sigil, Dontai, it’s a travel mark, she yells at him, gripping her sword hilt tight before walking to the right.” Hey, you don’t know what is down that way Elma” He shouts, trying to get her attention, but she ignores him, continuing down the path.
He lights the palm of his hand making a symbol that glows it, as he catches up to her, he slows his pace, walking beside her slowly. As wall of rain begins to come closer, visibly heavy as it pounds on the trail in front of them Dontai points his hand up and cast a barrier over them both. The clouds above overlap them, as the raindrops hit the barriers, it makes it pulsate a vibrant bluish-green. The large moon that was normally visible even in the day; was covered by the thick layered clouds, the wind blowing the trees every which way even causing some tree limbs to fall to fall and bounce off the barrier. “Wizard forecast said the weather would be bad but this is pretty horrific weather on the way to Amburst” she finally spoke, he said nothing, not to be rude but because he was deep into reading his grimoire. He was not paying much attention to the barrier, the rain, or anything really, from the intensity he was looking into the book she knew it had to be something important, at least more than usual.
A strong wind pulls and sucking sound happens behind him followed by a visible appearance of thick grey smoke. It morphed into the form of a felalis, its ears point up as it’s slit eyes bounce around observing the forest “I would think if you summoned me, you would be a talker but of course not. The silent time” he says making Elma chuckle “I think your familiar would like some direction Dontai”, “umm-huh” He grunts as he continues reading, “rude” the Felalis says continuing his strut beside Dontai. “So, Felalis, what is your name?”, “Well my real name is un pronounceable your means but you can call me Xyrath”, “Why does that sound bad? Dontai! What did you summon him?”, she shouts at him he sighs and closes the book before rubbing his forehead. “No need to yell” He replies, “Well you have been ignoring us for the better part of fifteen tree clicks back” Dontai looks at Xyrath and raises his eyebrow while looking at him before realizing what he was talking about “I wasn’t ignoring you guys, I hear you but I was concentration on unlocking this new spell” Elma waves this conversation away “ What is Xyrath?” she stopped walking for a moment causing Dontai to stop as well Xyrath’s wings begin to flap as he hoovers up to Elma’s face “I’m a god of sorts, from outer realm. That is all the information you need to know for now; anything other than that will break your mind and drive you insane.” He turns away, flying over to Dontai, “The tavern you’re looking for is only about two-thousand tree clicks away” before disappearing, Dontai rolls his eyes at the sentence structure of Xyrath “What can’t you speak normal” he murmurs, “ excuse me…I’m not much for the primitive ape language and for the record I’m still here”, So, why did you summon a god like feline?”, “I summoned him as a kid by accident,” he says with dismissiveness. “Wait…. That’s not possible, tho, that is like rank ten magic, and most of the best magicians can only do up to seven and even fewer crossing the line into nine.

I have known you my whole life, Dontai. Since when can you do rank 10 magic?”. He shies away from the conversation, “just because I never should you doesn’t mean I could never do it” he grunts, “come to think of it, that’s completely unfair.” She proceeds, he raises his eye brow and turns to look at her “How do you mean?” he ask, “I mean I’ve shown you all of my cool tricks and abilities and it’s jut now you’re going to fill me in on the fact that you could classify as a rank 10”, Dontai rolls his eyes before laughing “Sounds to me you’re more worried I’ll get into a high guide than you and leave you behind” He throws his arm around her “ Don’t worry Elma, I’ll never leave you behind dude…” he pulls his arm back and they continue walking he looks at his hands “honestly, I’ve never learned to control it. It is like a complex puzzle where I only get a few pieces at a time.”
“So, you need something like a professor?” she asks in a high pitch tone, “I mean a professor could work but I’m hoping to find news on a ascending mage.” she chuckles to his statement “yeah okay, ascending mage? Don we aren’t even in the right region to even be looking for one of those, you know that few times they were seen recently were somewhere out east, somewhere in Asuro.”, he puts his hand to his chin as he folds his arms “ Well that’s half true, earlier today I got news of one of them being close to us while we were experience farming that dungeon.”, “Let me guess Xyrath?” she says with her body language reflecting his. “They aren’t dead, you know?” “Huh?” she says, looking around for Xyrath before he reappears beside her, “The ascending mages are not dead. Just somewhere else entirely,”, “and how would you know?”, “I will not have my knowledge questioned by a child,” “geez, fragile much Xyrath,” He stammers back with his words getting tongue tied for a moment.
“My apologies if I came off commanding, understand I have not been around humanity nor trapped as a summon for well over a few millennia. So, while I am bound, there is no point in withholding information if my master so desires it. “Wait, but as a cosmic god, shouldn’t you be able to break free?”, “I would say yes but as Master Dontai said he summoned me as a child, and as the baby child of my own family, that makes me….”, “the weakest” she interjects “ah, you are too hard on yourself Xyrath. I would release you if I knew how…If I could control my magic at a rank so high”, “You don’t seem too worried about being released Xyrath, for someone with a family wouldn’t they come looking for you?” Xyrath turns with his stomach facing the docile dark clouds in the sky, are the heavy rain turns into a light sprinkle. “No, they are all dicks to a degree. As I’ve been here, I have had the chance to learn of some of your gods, even tried communicating with some of them, but…radio silence. They sound lovely in comparison to my brothers.”
The three of them continued forward small mountains and valleys, when the lights from the village. The moonset brings way to the sun rise, Dontai drops the barrier, he breathes heavily. “You okay, D?” Elma asks. “No, it’s exhausting having to maintain a barrier for so long. I have a high spirit, sure that’s true, but it is still taxing nonetheless. Xyrath favor, disappear for the moment.” Xyrath looks up and acknowledges the reasoning before disappearing away. Elma looks at Dontai as the village sign comes into view, meeting the sunset, “hiding him again, aye?”, “No hiding out of fear, just cautious. You realize how many people would come hunting if they knew I had a god as a familiar, or worse, the guides that would harass me to join.” She stopped right under the sign, “I didn’t think about that.” She pouts, “No worries, time to find an Inn so I can sleep at least for a few hours”, “No surprise, if anything, I’m more surprised we had no battles on the way here”. He throws his head into his chin before both of them look back at the forest way off in the distance now.
