She was through the hallway as the bell rang again, Clovefield pushes the heavy wooden front door open. The tight squeaking from the hinges under great stress from the large doors, as they head outside into the garden; the sun blinding, high in the sky. Giving the grass a vibrate green glow with a yellow tint. A few hundred other students filled the campus grounds majority either practicing flying with mates or learning to contain their abilities like on of the impressive freshman Del who was under the eye of Mr. Turner or the sophomore Alma who is being mentored by Bleu “I think your partner is walking this way.”, “that she is, maybe just needs a tip on something “he stumbles forward both awkwardly greeting each other. She was cute, still had her cheerful child face even though it was drowned out by her pouting look, either way you couldn’t tell she was fifteen, her styles a mix between gothic and punk rock with her dark raven black hair shaved on one side with a septum piercing and heavy black around her eyes. “Hey, so I tried your suggestion of trying to warp through water”, “what, no luck?” she shakes her head slowly to his question “nah, every time I would redirect it just sucked in a large amount of water with me”, “Ah, that explains a lot, you’re what is known in the professional business as rifters; you don’t actually move your modules from one location to another but rather you rip open space and jump through, you following?” the genuity in his voice didn’t stop the confusion on her face.

Bleu looks back “I’m going to break from….”, “no need to explain” Clovefield cuts him off before he could finish, nodding her head and gesturing for him to leave. As they part ways Clovefield continues on to the study lounge with June “you’re coming to the student lounge still?”, “yeah there is kind of a bet going on between the house of Kinsley and IZEM” Ummm, she thought herself…a bet? It was normal trivial things at the academy sometimes it offering your opponent lunch on your dime as the winner. Other times it’s for points to move up the academy ladder to the scholarship for a quarter a million “real life changing money, uh?” June says snapping Clovefield out of her own head “huh”, “the scholarship money, it’s life changing” June repeats “yeah you’re not lying; I’m dying to win that prize money at the end of the year”, “what place are you in?” June watches as her question causes Clovefield’s face to fall into confusion “what place are you on the board” she asks again this time complimenting it with a smile. “Oh, I think 20th”, “for a honor roll student you’re pretty low”, “ Eh, my mom works in the administration so my tuition is half that of other students. It’s just” Clovefield pauses briefly “they make her work over seas to stop any kind of power moves from happening but between us June” Clovefield moves closer to her so she could lower her voice “they still happen, take Mianae for example.
Mianae Grimm’s parents spend a atrocious amount of money for “school events” she says using her fingers to give gesturing air quotes “right” June says dragging her worlds with a hint of skepticism tasting bitter on her tongue “anyway, you think we’ll ever have a academy team like X-men?” Clovefield looks at June with a face that is bubbled up like a puffer fish causing her to laugh “while X-men is cool and all, I’m just tired of the freshmen always making it a major topic” Clovefield throws her hands in the air before crossing them , “Like we get it, you’re excited your M chromosome finally flared. You got excepted into a boarding school most people would think were only in comics but the government would never allow a rogue army group of super humans to band together under no authority figure” with smile long gone the sun shinning down off the side of her casting a towering shadow over June. “Eh, that’s kind of harsh don’t you think? I mean we were the exact same way Ms. I came to school on my first day in tights and a mask…..what was it you went around school saying?” June’s tone ringed of a playful cockiness catching Clovefield off guard “Hey hey, you promised you would never talk about that” Clovefield grunts, as the grass changes from grass to dirt a few of the other students already at the study lounge making a crowd around whoever was sparring. Clovefield and June push their way to the front of the crowd, they stop short as a fire blast ashes the ground before her next step. The two guys that were fighting were also honor roll students, Arthur and Frank both coming from the house of IZEM, Arthur was tall for someone only sixteen his olive complexion tanned from being in the sun too long with long flow blonde dread locs apparently he came from Brazil he says they practice a combination of form I and Form VIII which he says his parents called a more instructive version of 19th century Capoeira. As For Frank he normally has his hair in a simple afro blown out swaying from side to side in the breeze, tangling the ray of sunshine as it tries to break it’s way through his coils but today it was box braided downward. His syrup skin patched with dirt, his jacket schemed with his house colors mainly grey with royal purple and gold yellow bands around the arm sleeve. His arms stand to the ready by his side while his bare feet sunk into the dirt.
Arthur’s preppy sweater torn in areas as he too stood there like a statue both just staring for a moment as the subtle breeze blew by. Clovefield takes a seat as the crowd standing around her chants and cheers. The sweat obvious, slowly crawling down their faces had given away how long they had actually been sparring for. She bites her bottom lip in anticipation; breathe slowing as the dirty flings into the air from under Frank’s feet.
